The Korça Court has imposed the security measure of "prison arrest" for Violand Braçellari, the perpetrator of the murder of officer Enea Mekolli and the injury of another officer Edison Adri in Lozhan i Maliqi.

Based on the decision issued by Judge Gentjan Sallahu, the author is now charged with committing the criminal offenses of "Murder of state police officers", "Murder of state police officers" attempted, "Unlicensed possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition" in the form of possession of firearms in public places and "Unlicensed production and possession of hunting and sporting weapons" in the form of possession of hunting weapons and ammunition, provided for by articles 79/b, 79b-22, 278/1 and 280 of the Criminal Code.

A serious incident occurred on Thursday, when at around 07:30, police services surrounded the building where Braçellari was suspected of hiding, who did not obey the police call to surrender and opened fire on police officers.

Braçellari, 43 years old, was sentenced in 2017 to 9 years, 11 months and 7 days of imprisonment by the Korça Court, for the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics", while in 2011 he was sentenced to the security measure of "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense of "Cultivation of narcotic plants". /CNA
