Nosr Manlapaz, the mother of the young man who killed 22-year-old Albanian woman Ilaria Sula, has been sentenced to two years in prison. Manlapaz is accused of helping her son hide the traces of the crime and the victim's body.

At the end of the court hearing, Samson's mother agreed to a plea deal with two years in prison and so the judge, Paola Petti, gave Manlapaz a suspended sentence.

After this decision, the family of the young Albanian woman also reacted, expressing disappointment at what they considered an unfair decision.

"For us, this is not justice. We were devastated by what we saw and heard, a trial that lasted only five minutes. A person who cleaned up liters of my daughter's blood, which had been flushed down the toilet... For us, this is not justice," said Flamur Sula, Ilaria's father.

Meanwhile, the trial for young Filipino Mark Samson will resume on December 9th.

We recall that the body of Ilaria Sula was found inside a large suitcase at the bottom of a cliff in a forest area in Poli, a few months ago.

She was allegedly stabbed to death inside an apartment in Rome by her Filipino boyfriend. The 23-year-old is suspected of putting the victim's body inside a suitcase and taking it to a wooded area in Poli.

Mark Samson is reported to have been the young man who sent officers to the area where the body of Ilaria, who was studying at Sapienza University in Rome, was found.

He has been arrested on charges of intentional murder and concealment of the body. The victim's cell phone records revealed the 23-year-old, who used the Albanian student's phone to exchange messages and publish posts on Ilaria's social networks. / CNA
