The city of Korça has had a tradition for years to hold the flag celebration mass in the "Resurrection of Christ" Orthodox Cathedral on November 28.

On the 112th anniversary of the Independence of Albania, a special ceremony of the flag mass was held this Friday, presided over by the Metropolitan of Korça, Monsignor Joan Pelushi.

Many citizens and believers have gathered to honor the symbol of the country's independence, to respect those who gave their lives and invaluable contribution to make Albania an independent state.

In his speech to the believers and the citizens of Korça, Monsignor Joan Pelushi said that today is a day of remembrance, where everyone commemorates two important things. According to him, it is not enough just to thank God, but we must all be responsible to take care of our country.

"Today is a day of remembrance. We gather every year to commemorate two very important things. First, to thank God for giving us a beautiful country that has everything, mountains, fields, hills, rivers, but we we are the guardians of this. We are here to take care of the country. Thanking God is not enough. We have the duty to make this country flourish, because every person who thinks says that "I love it he doesn't love the god" and the country that he was born and raised, that man is a liar", said Monsignor Joan Pelushi.

"It is impossible to love God and not love the country" - emphasizes Monsignor Joan Pelushi.

Among other things, he calls that every person should do good deeds and not abuse and waste.

"And if we talk all day about the motherland, true love is not only a feeling but a deed. Those people who do good deeds are the ones who are called good guardians and are rewarded by God. While those who abuse are called bad guardians and will be punished by God.

Therefore, on this honorable day for our people, let us always keep in mind first the thanksgiving and secondly the responsibility we have to make this country flourish", emphasized Monsignor Joan Pelushi.

On this marked day, the metropolitan of Korça has expressed his congratulations to the people, praying that God will bless our country and enlighten the Albanian people.

"Happy many years everyone! I pray that God will bless our country and enlighten our people! Amen!", said Monsignor Joan Pelushi.

The mass of the celebration of the flag was held in the Cathedral of Korça, where dozens of believers and Korça citizens were part of this ceremony to respect and honor the symbol of Independence./ CNA
