The Greek media "Ta Nea" has today published an article about the dark past of the candidate for MEP of Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis, Fredi Beleri for the June 9 elections.

It is about the event of March 19, 1995, where Fredi Beleri along with 6 other people were arrested near the border with Albania.

According to Greek media, in the trunks of their two cars they carried 9 Kalashnikovs, two pistols, bayonets, radios, camouflage uniforms and hoods.

"Ta Nea" brings to attention the fact that this event assumed great proportions in the Greek press of the time, where it was written that a group of paramilitaries would attack the neighboring country.

This old story was probably forgotten by the majority of the Greek opinion, but in the media of the neighboring country it returned to the news after the complaint of the former Minister of Education, Nikos Fili, who publicly asked Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotaqis a few days ago that to exclude Fredi Beleri's candidacy from the list of his candidates for Eurodeputy proposed by New Democracy.

Also, the article states that the arrest of 7 people, including Fredi Beleri, alerted the Greek authorities at the time, since a year ago unknown persons had entered Albania from Greece and killed two Albanian soldiers in the military department of Peshkepi in Gjirokastra.
