More than two months in prison/ Veliaj seeks freedom, hearing to be held on

Imprisoned for more than two months for two serious criminal offenses such as corruption and laundering of proceeds of crime, Erion Veliaj has requested freedom.

Veliaj, who is serving his sentence in Durrës prison, has filed a request for the revocation or replacement of the security measure, and has requested information from the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office regarding the progress of the investigations being conducted against him for the criminal offenses of corruption and money laundering.

His request is expected to be reviewed on Wednesday by the preliminary investigation judge, Erjon Bani, against whom he has ordered an attack campaign, as also resulted from the wiretaps published by CNA, as well as against prosecutor Ols Dado.  

The Special Appeal dismissed his request, upholding the decision given by Erjon Bani in the security measures assessment session held at the Special Court on February 12, which clearly stated that Veliaj poses a risk of destroying and poisoning evidence./ CNA
