The Constitutional Court partially accepts Ahmetaj's appeal/ Seizure of

The Constitutional Court has partially accepted the appeal of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj regarding the seizure of his assets. The court has annulled the decision related to the seizure of some assets.

Among the assets mentioned are an apartment on "Reshit Çollaku" street, Tirana, as well as a bank account and a deposit in a second-tier bank in the country.

The Constitutional Court has also decided to send the case back for trial to the Special Appeal.

Ahmetaj is accused of committing three criminal offenses: “money laundering,” “hiding assets,” and “passive corruption.” It is suspected that during his years as minister, he took several actions to enable entrepreneurs to enter into concession contracts.

Former minister and former number two in the government, Arben Ahmetaj, has been on the run for about 2 years, since June 2023. Since July 24, 2024, Ahmetaj has been declared internationally wanted. /CNA
