"He rejected me when I was in opposition"/ Rama shares high title with

Prime Minister Edi Rama was present this afternoon at the solemn ceremony of awarding the titles "Doctor Honoris Causa" to renowned international personalities in law, academia and art.

In his speech, Rama focused on the case of Professor Ricardo Hausmann, who, according to him, belongs to a group of prominent economists, among those who make a country change.

While speaking about the prominent intellectual, Rama also shared a little about the history of their acquaintance, which according to the prime minister happened precisely at the time when he was in opposition and was known as a painter who wanted to win the elections.

"This is a global platform that brings together prominent people from the world of law from all continents. Today I was called here to preface with my speech the title "Honoris Causa" for Professor Ricardo Hausmann and at the request of the organizers, which is not an easy burden, but since on special occasions I will translate the speech into English. For me, speaking in front of this professor is an exam. There are many economists who make explanations, but there are also a number who make countries change before the world notices them. We are not celebrating a respected intellectual. He has taught nations to discover a lot and I must say something, because my relationship with Ricardo started as a total failure. I wrote to him when I was in opposition and tried to find ways to find that Albania was worth his time and in return I received silence. He had never heard of a painter becoming prime minister and I kept wondering why "An opposition member would refuse communication. I understood that to get his attention, you have to win the elections," Rama said./CNA
