On the International Day of Forests, the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, together with the mayor of Korça, Sotiraq Filo, were in Voskopoja for the planting of about 21 hectares. 40 thousand young saplings were planted to rehabilitate the area damaged by fires years ago.

Kumbaro described the Municipality of Korça as one of the municipalities that has performed better in terms of forest management.

"I want to thank the Municipality of Korça, because it is one of those municipalities that, in the first event when we opened the event of the year of forests, was among the municipalities that had performed better, according to the analysis of the National Forestry Agency. Even though it has been going at a good pace, I believe that there is still a lot to do in terms of the forest management and breeding plan", she said.

Meanwhile, Filo revealed that as a municipality, they prioritize tourism and the development of forest areas towards this goal.

"Korça has 14 forest economies. The potential is huge. Korça is a municipality that has tourism among its priorities. A very important component of it is nature tourism with all its elements, and forests and pastures are a very important element that must be put to use", said the mayor of Korça, Sotiraq Filo.
