Hazardous waste/ Durrës Court verifies security measures for 20 arrested

The Durrës Court has verified the security measures for 20 people arrested for trafficking hazardous waste. It is reported that the Court has left 8 of the arrested in prison, 5 of them under house arrest and 7 of them under obligation to appear.

We recall that two days ago, the Durrës Prosecutor's Office announced that it had requested security measures for 33 people, while only 20 of them were executed, as the other 13 were not found in their homes during the operation to execute security measures. The Prosecutor's Office announced that the expertise proved that the waste on the Moliva XA443A ship is dangerous and toxic.

It also announced that the samples taken from the 102 seized containers and the samples taken from: "Shoqëria Kurum International" sh.a.; "Sokolaj" sh.pk and "Alliance Resource" sh.pk, were subjected to expertise for their chemical composition, physical characteristics, classification, compatibility between them, compatibility with the analysis sheets submitted by the entities for their export and the risk to human health and the environment.

In the samples taken from the containers seized by the companies "Kurum International" sh.a. and "Alliance Resource", the presence of elements that pose a risk to human health and the environment, related to the risk of toxicity for reproduction and ecotoxicity, especially to aquatic ecosystems, was found. In the meantime, work is underway to capture the wanted persons. /CNA
