The Government proposes to the Assembly two members of the Supervisory Council

At the meeting held today, the Council of Ministers proposed to the Parliament two names for members of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania.

According to the government's decision, these two proposed members are Jonida Prifti and Ervin Mete.  

DECISION ON THE PROPOSAL TO THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA OF TWO MEMBERS FOR THE SUPERVISORY COUNCIL OF THE BANK OF ALBANIA

In accordance with Article 100 of the Constitution and letter “b”, point 2, Article 44, of Law No. 8269, dated 23.12.1997, “On the Bank of Albania”, as amended, upon the proposal of the Prime Minister, the Council of Ministers

DECIDED:

The proposal to the Assembly of the Republic of Albania of two members for the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania, as follows:

– Mrs. Jonida Prifti;

– Mr. Ervin Mete.

This decision enters into force immediately and is published in the "Official Gazette".

According to the Law “On the Bank of Albania”, all members of the Supervisory Council are elected and appointed by the Assembly of the Republic of Albania. Five of the members are proposed by the Assembly, three members are proposed by the Council of Ministers and one member is proposed by the Supervisory Council itself.

The law provides that candidates for members of the Supervisory Council must be persons of integrity and moral purity, as well as those who have higher economic or legal education; professional experience in financial and banking matters; professional qualifications of the profile; work experience of over five years in public administration or in financial and banking institutions.

According to the law, the function of a member of the Supervisory Council is incompatible with the function of an employee, administrator and shareholder, with an influential participation in a second-tier bank or in entities licensed by the Bank of Albania. /CNA
