US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar

The US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, during an interview with the Kosovar media, has stated that the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia is a matter of weeks.

“Unë i kam dëgjuar kolegët e mi evropianë të flasin se kjo është çështje javësh dhe jo vitesh. Për një marrëveshje, për rrugën përpara. Prandaj, përtej kësaj u përket të dyja palëve dhe ndërmjetësuesit që të vendosin afate kohore, por duhet të jetë e shpejtë. Duke marrë parasysh kontekstin e asaj që po ndodhë, secili duhet të marrë përgjegjësi për të krijuar stabilitet, jo vetëm në Evropë, por edhe në rajon”, ka thënë Escobar në Kanal10.

Ndër të tjera, i Dërguari i Posaçëm i SHBA-ve në Ballkanin Perëndimor, Gabriel Escobar, nënvizoi se SHBA mbështesin propozimin franko-gjerman .

"We will support this. We think, as it was explained to us, this proposal would mean closer commitment and integration of Kosovo, and potentially Serbia, in the Euro-Atlantic integrations... Yes, we fully support it. And, I must add that we have always supported the recognition of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state and we would welcome it in the UN and in all other European structures", he declared./ CNA.al
