The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, spoke after leaving the premises of the Peqin prison about the murder and wounding by the prisoner Sokol Mjacaj.

Manja described this event as extremely serious, while declaring that the life and safety of the police personnel was not compromised at any time.

"Very serious event. One convict lost his life and another convict was slightly injured. I want to console the family members of the convict who lost his life, and wish the other convict who was injured a speedy recovery. The author of this serious event is sentenced to life imprisonment and after committing the crime he addressed the general director of prisons. After the delivery, it was made available to the willing prosecutor of Elbasan. There has never been a violation of the life and safety of police personnel", he said.

Also, the minister gave a message to the families of the prisoners, asking them not to worry as the situation is under control.

"All the family members of the convicts in our institutions should calm down, this is a serious event, but the situation of order and security is under control. The last one, regarding the special regime, the procedures have started since yesterday, the first two have been established and there will be others who will be established in the regime in the following days", Manja emphasized./ CNA
