Xhaçka's mandate/ US Embassy: Parliament ignored the Constitutional

The US Embassy has reacted regarding the decision of the Assembly not to send the mandate of MP Olta Xhaçka to the Constitutional Court.

The embassy emphasizes that the parliament has ignored the Constitutional Court with this decision.

In response, it is emphasized that the government and institutions must respect the rules, laws, court decisions and the constitution. 

"The US Embassy shares the concern of the Delegation of the European Union regarding the decision of the Parliament of Albania to ignore a decision of the Constitutional Court.

As the Speaker of the Parliament recently observed, taking the necessary steps for the decisions of the Constitutional Court is the central responsibility of the Parliament and is also vital for the separation of powers.

The government and institutions must respect the rules, laws, court decisions and the constitution - all of which are there to ensure that the democratic system is healthy and flourishing," said the reaction./ CNA
