Leka Bungo attacks Aurora Polo: Give up running for director of RTSH

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Albanian Radio Television, Leka Bungo, has attacked the acting director of Albanian Public Radio Television.

Through a letter, Bungo asks Aurora Polo to withdraw from running for director of RTSH.

According to him, Polo is in violation of the RTSH statute.

In fact, we remind Mr. Leka Bungo that the head of the RTSH Steering Council is in violation of the law and the statute, as he has taken money from RTSH funds, violated the law and the RTSH statute, lied in the Assembly, and forged his signature at a meeting of the Steering Council.

Leka Bungo's full letter to Aurora Polo:

Mrs. Polo,

The RTSH Statute, among other things, in Article 10, Point 1, Subsection C, specifies:

“The Director General of RTSH… must have no less than ten years of work experience, of which five years in management positions IN THE MEDIA, public institutions (non-administrative), in the private sector, in communication sciences, communication and digital technologies.”

The same criterion is also mandatory for the appointment of the Deputy Director General.

However, the former Director General, in violation of the Statute, appointed you Deputy Director, and you performed her functions for several months, even though the Governing Council, whose nomenclature you are part of, REJECTED your appointment.

Suddenly, at one of the meetings of the Board of Directors, you were appointed by a majority vote to the position of Deputy General Director.

Undoubtedly, your appointment was legal, as the decision was made by majority vote. However, in our judgment, it was illegal for the members of the Governing Council.

However, in such a case, you cannot avoid moral responsibility, as you were aware that the appointment was in violation of the RTSH Statute.

2. Your candidacy for Director General

Madam Deputy Director, following the resignation of the General Director, you have applied for the position of General Director.

You did this even though you are aware that, as in the case of your first appointment, the same legal obstacle exists for the position of Director General:

Criteria set out in the Statute – Article 10, Point 1, Letter C.

The insistence and the necessary thirst to sit in the chair of the Director General has "darkened your vision", to the point that it does not even allow you to read the Statute.

Your inexplicable persistence has dragged out the election process for the selection of the new Director of the institution.

If you think you can achieve your goal just like when you sat in the Deputy Director's chair, I think you are mistaken.

Based on the above, I would advise you to resign from the race for the appointment to the position of Director General of RTSH.
