The Constitutional Court rejects President Bajram Begaj's request for

Representatives of President Bajram Begaj have requested that Veliaj's appeal not be considered as incompetent for this decision. The members of the Constitutional Court, after withdrawing for a decision, have rejected this request of the President. 

Judge Holta Zaçaj stated that the Presidency's request is not accepted at this stage of the review, but will be treated as a request on the merits of the case. 

"Your request is not accepted at this stage of the review, but will be treated as a request on the merits of the case. The court draws attention to the fact that the decision of the judges' meeting on October 9 that you object to was taken during the preliminary review phase, a phase in which the judges' meeting operates in a consulting room and the interested parties have not yet been determined, therefore they cannot be summoned to be heard," Zaçaj stated, among other things. 

Earlier, the President's representatives stated:

"We have requested that the issue of competence to repeal decree no. 350, dated 01.10.2025, be reconsidered, and that you declare incompetence at the beginning of the session because you cannot review an administrative act such as this decree. The elections in Tirana were obstructed, Constitutionality must be restored and the incompetence to review the decree must be declared ," the President's representatives previously requested at the session./ CNA
