Members of the Constitutional Court withdraw for decision

After hearing the requests of each party, the Constitutional Court panel has withdrawn to rule on Veliaj's request for President Barjam Begaj's decree.

Representatives of President Bajram Begaj have stated that the Constitutional Court is not competent to suspend President Bajram Begaj's decree.

"We have requested that the issue of competence to repeal decree no. 350, dated 01.10.2025, be reconsidered and that you declare incompetence at the beginning of the session because you cannot review an administrative act such as this decree. The elections in Tirana were obstructed, Constitutionality must be restored and the incompetence to review the decree must be declared," said the President's representatives. 

On the other hand, Veliaj's lawyers have stated that the Constitutional Court is competent to review the decree's decision.

"Before you open the session, we request that you make a decision to exclude the President's decree as an act that must be reviewed by this court," said Veliaj's lawyers Ermal Yzeiraj and Alban Dokushi./ CNA
