The Chairman of the Supreme State Audit Office, Arben Shehu, held an official meeting today with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Albania, Reinout Vos.

During this meeting, the initiation of inter-institutional cooperation between the Supreme Audit Office and its Dutch counterpart, the Algemene Rekenkamer (Court of Accounts of the Netherlands), was discussed. This cooperation, made possible with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tirana, aims to strengthen the exchange of experiences, best auditing practices and the development of professional capacities.

Ambassador Vos expressed his appreciation for the work and contribution of the SAI to date, especially in strengthening the role of the institution at the international level through collaborations with counterpart institutions and international audit organizations.

The Ambassador also praised the existing collaborations of the SAI with the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and Faktoje.al, within the framework of joint projects being developed with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands, with the aim of increasing transparency, public accountability and strengthening the role of civil society and the media in overseeing the use of public funds.

The conversation between President Shehu and Ambassador Vos also focused on further expanding cooperation in areas of common institutional interest, with the aim of increasing the impact of external public audit in improving governance and strengthening the rule of law.

The Albanian SAI remains committed to deepening international partnerships and advancing public audit standards, in the service of transparency, accountability and public interest.
