Production costs rose 2.8% in January-March, food processing with the highest

Production costs in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 2.8%, an indicator that signals price increases in minority markets in the future.

According to INSTAT, a year ago, this change was 9.4%. The Producer Price Index in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 1.1%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2023.

Compared to the first quarter of 2023, the largest price increase of 7.2% is observed in the section "Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning", followed by the sections "Extractive industry" with 3.9%, "Supply with water, waste treatment and management activities" with 1.8% and "Processing Industry" with 1.2%.

Within the "Manufacturing industry" section, the largest increase in prices is observed in the activity "Production of tobacco products" with 4.5%, followed by the activities "Processing of food products" with 4.1%, "Production of beverages" with 3 .8%, "Metallurgy" with 3.1%, "Printing and regrouping of recorded media" with 2.6%, "Manufacturing of wood and wood and oak products, except furniture" with 2.2%, etc.

On the other hand, the biggest decrease in prices is observed in the activity "Manufacturing of non-metallic mineral products" by 2.5%, followed by "Manufacturing of electrical equipment" by 2.2%, "Manufacturing of optical, electronic, computer products" ” with 2.0% “Processing of textiles” with 1.6%, “Production of chemicals and chemical products” with 1.1%, etc.

The Index of Production Prices of products for the domestic market compared to the first quarter of 2023 marked an increase of 3.5%. The biggest increase in prices is observed in the section "Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning" with 10.5%, followed by the sections "Extractive industry" with 3.8%, "Processing industry" with 1.2% and "Water supply, waste treatment and management activities" with 0.2%.

The Index of Production Prices of products for export compared to the first quarter of 2023 marked an increase of 0.5%. The biggest price increase was recorded in the "Extractive Industry" section with 4.0%, followed by the "Water supply, waste treatment and management activities" section with 3.9%, "Processing Industry" with 0 ,1%.

On the other hand, the "Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning" section has recorded a decrease of 1.3%.

Compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, the largest increase of 1.9% is observed in the section "Extractive Industry" with 1.9%, followed by the sections "Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning" with 1.6%, "Water supply, waste treatment and management activities" with 1.2% and "Processing Industry" with 0.8%. Within this section, the largest increase in prices is observed in the activities "Metallurgy" with 2.9%, "Processing of food products" with 1.7%, "Printing and regrouping of recorded media" with 1.0%, etc.

The Index of Production Prices of products for the domestic market compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, the index increased by 0.9%. The largest increase is observed in the section "Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning" with 2.0%, followed by the sections "Extractive Industry" with 1.3%, "Manufacturing Industry" with 0.4% and "Supply" with water, waste treatment and management activities" has decreased by 0.2%.

The Production Price Index of products for export compared to the previous quarter increased by 0.3%. The biggest increase is observed in the "Extractive Industry" section with 2.5%, followed by the "Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning" section with 0.1%. On the other hand, the section "Water supply, waste treatment and management activities" has recorded a decrease of 0.9%./ Monitor
