The competition for the iconic building on New Boulevard/ The winning company is

"Chybik + Kristof" is the winning studio of the international competition for the multifunctional building, which will be erected on Bulevardi e Ri, with the aim of creating an iconic building in that area. During the presentation of the competition, the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said that the further expansion of the capital is a necessity for development, but also a new perspective that opens up for the city of the next 100 years.

"I'm really proud that our whole team, the planning team at the central level, but also at the local level, has created this fantastic tradition where we collaborate with the private sector, organizing a competition for the best ideas. We have seen that we have only benefited from ideas. The best idea, as was the competition for the Plaza, has turned into an iconic building. Therefore, I really hope that from these 5 ideas, we really choose a result, an iconic concept in what I believe will be the Tirana of the next 100 years," said Veliaj.

The mayor underlined that the New Boulevard area is the one where the most investments are currently being made in Tirana. "Here we are dealing with the first project, or the first major investment of the Municipality of Tirana, where all services are already there. We have just received a grant from the government of Qatar for the end square of the New Boulevard. It is a kind of extension of the backbone of Tirana. I believe that this extension of the backbone of the city has opened a perspective for the next 100 years," Veliaj further stated.

5 international studios participated in this competition, where the studio "XDGA" was ranked second, while the third place was taken by "Atelier Martel"./ CNA
