The head of the teachers' union, Sandër Kovaçi, has threatened that if their demands are not accepted, there will be a boycott of the exams until February.
Kovaci justified the abandonment of the protest by the lecturers saying that it was pressure from the government.
" I want to denounce the fact that 3 universities have promised to finance 8%. We are for 30%. In Shkodër, 2% was approved. This is a scandal. There is no chance that it foresees the financing of the additional 8%. We are that this 8% should not be given by the universities. There is no way to finance teachers' salaries. Very soon we will hear what will happen to this 8%.
If our demands are not finalized by February, there will be a boycott of the exams. There was a situation of the need not to harm the educational process, there was no sense in boycotting more than 3 weeks. Replacing 3 weeks is no problem. The attitude towards the government has not softened. There will be a more complete boycott if the government does not react ", said Kovaçi./ CNA.al
