"You have done an extraordinary job"/ Activist Goci interview for CNA

Pedagogue and activist Ervin Goci gave an interview to CNA about the publication of wiretaps of Erion Veliaj's conversations made from Durrës detention center.

Goci praised CNA's work in this case, which he called extraordinary, and also mentioned the denunciations made by our media regarding the incinerator case.

The teacher said that most media outlets in Albania are controlled by the government and only a few have published the wiretaps.

The media serves Veliaj. Should it serve this function?

When the media loses its function and starts providing other services, it is no longer the media. We have no information, they are commanded directly by phone, by order, by word. The media that serves the office of a government, in this case the local government, which is in fact the government of many other interests, which are emerging day after day.

Some media outlets even come out against the wiretapping part. Can these media outlets be justified with these claims?

Our media has thrown all freedom like rotten corn into the canals and we are in a fatal situation. The orchestrated media is trying to confuse public opinion.

Over the years, have we had any cases where a media outlet influenced a court's decision regarding an official?

The prosecution has done its job and the media, in my opinion, must definitely shed light on these matters and have courage.

What hinders the courage of the media today?

The media is an extension of a system and we have a systemic degradation. If tomorrow we put a lock on the media that comes out in the wiretaps, society will be more relieved.

If we compare it with time periods, how is the media today in relation to the government?

It's completely caught. I don't know what epithet to find. If you get into corrupt relationships with government officials, with businessmen, schemes like incinerators, you're totally caught, just waiting for the next client to grab some money. Corruption is in your head. There are very few media outlets in Albania today that can tell the truth. Those media outlets that tell the truth today do not have business relationships with incriminated businessmen. I watch 4-5 media outlets with interest.

There are also portals, such as CNA.al and CNA TV , which have done an extraordinary job of tracking down an issue from the incinerators. Only 3-4 media outlets publish these intercepts, Ora News, Syri TV./ CNA
