The Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu and the Mayor of Kamza Rakip Suli have signed the agreement for the implementation of the Student Card, an initiative that affects and facilitates the academic and social life of about 6500 students of the Agricultural University of Tirana (UBT).
This agreement comes as an extension of the previous cooperation with the Municipality of Tirana and other municipalities in the country, thus becoming part of a wider network of support for students. Thanks to this agreement, students will have access to various services at reduced prices, including the fields of arts and culture, health, social protection, education, sports and youth, transport, tourism and the environment.
"The Student Card is a mechanism by which students can benefit from a variety of services. The municipalities of Tirana, Elbasan, Durrës, Korça, Gjirokastra are municipalities that have already revived the Student Card with concrete services for students to facilitate the pursuit of studies in order to reduce those living expenses related to public transport, services various social, cultural, sports activities which are carried out free of charge or with reduced fees, but also through what the municipalities do today to build, develop and support human capital and to mainly support young people, which is exactly mediation for employment", said Manastirliu.
The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu said that the Student Card is a proof of the commitment of the government, the Ministry of Education and Sports and municipalities in the country to support students through concrete initiatives such as scholarships, financial support for priority branches and excellent students, such as and the student loan application.
Currently, at the national level, about 50 thousand students benefit from scholarships and exemptions or reductions of study fees, with a funding value of 1.8 billion ALL per year.
The Agricultural University of Tirana has benefited from financial support with scholarships equal to the minimum salary for students, emphasizing the continuity of support for the branches that are considered as priority. Also, this year, student loan applications were opened for the first time, offering a new financial opportunity for those students who do not benefit from scholarships or other support.
Through these initiatives and continuous support, the aim is to increase the standards and competitiveness of our universities in the region, improving not only their internationalization but also responding effectively to market needs through the opening of new branches and joint degree programs. double./ CNA
