The chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, presented to the Laws Commission, the initiative that aims to increase the minimum pension up to 300 euros in 2029.

Through this initiative, Gazment Bardhi says that the dignified treatment of pensioners is intended, as an indicator of an emancipated society.

"The intervention in the law aims to establish a minimum standard for the amount of pension benefits starting from 2024 at the average pension amount of around ALL 18 thousand and continuing in an upward progression for the next 5 years in order that in 2029 there will be no pensions lower than 300 euros. The Albanian government has the financial possibilities if the expenses do not go to luxuries of offices and tenders that enrich the oligarchs. This can happen if the citizens' money is well managed and does not go to the bills that Belinda Balluku and her party friends put in their pockets", stressed Bardhi.

The second amendment seeks to remove the pension withdrawal time limit. The current law provides that a pensioner can leave his pension undrawn for up to three years, while Bardhi's proposal calls for the legal deadlines to be removed and the pensioner to withdraw it whenever he wants./ CNA
