Former advisor to US President Bill Clinton, Christopher Hyland, commented today on one of the much-discussed investments in Albania, the Sazan project.

Speaking to "Euronews Albania", Hyland said that the island of Sazan is currently in a degraded state and that billions will be poured there, which according to him would give Albania a completely new look.

 "The US has a long history with Albania. If it weren't for President Wilson, the dissolution of Albania would have led to its non-existence. We had a woman in the US who wanted to be the queen of Albania. American supporters have not stopped talking about Albania and the Albanians in the US administration.

Albania should be open to investment. As for the Kushner project, it is a multinational project from the US, Saudi Arabia and investors coming from all over the world and international investments. Albania has many colors, like the ones your Prime Minister uses.

No one is more concerned about protecting protected areas than I am, and the island where the investment will be made is in some way dilapidated and investors will pour billions of dollars into changing it, so this is in some way a kind of gift to Albania.

"I have visited many national parks in Albania and in these points there are hotels, there are resorts and I support the hypothesis that these investments should be open to citizens, so that they can experience that investment," said Hyland. /CNA
