"Ghost incinerator with staggering profits"/ Why doesn't SPAK

Freedom Party Municipal Council member Artan Distafa, in a statement to the media, stated that in 2024, Tirana's ghost incinerator received a staggering profit of 10.3 million euros compared to the previous year.

These profits are taken from the taxes of Albanian citizens which continue to flow into the black hole of corruption.

Referring to the corruption affair, Distafa raises the question of why SPAK has not yet taken Erion Veliaj into custody.

We recall here that the Tirana incinerator case is in the hands of the prosecutor who is sleeping on the file, Dritan Prençi.

In 2024, Tirana's ghost incinerator reported a staggering profit of 10.3 million euros, a 36% increase compared to the previous year. Profits that do not come from any real work, but from millions of euros in taxes from Albanian citizens that continue to flow into a corrupt black hole.

There is no incinerator in Tirana, however, the payments continue every month with the blessing, silence, and criminal complicity of SPAK, which describes this affair as an "intellectual crime" that is difficult to investigate.

Since payments are still ongoing for a service that was never performed, Altin Dumani should tell us where the Tirana incinerator is?

Why does it allow the affair to continue without interrupting payments?

Why is there still no criminal investigation against Edi Rama and Erion Veliaj, the two actual owners of this mega-affair?

All Albanians now know Edi Rama's decision to give the incinerator company, when it didn't even exist on paper, an 8% favoritism bonus.

All Albanians know that Erion Veliaj, with his signature, in excess of his powers and in violation of the law on local government, paved the way for this affair.

Why doesn't SPAK dare to take Edi Rama and Erion Veliaj as defendants in this affair?

This is the clearest proof that the new justice system is not independent, but selective and controlled.

Although SPAK has been investigating this affair, described as an "intellectual crime" for 5 years, it has still not managed to find the criminal responsibilities of Rama and Veliaj, because as in every affair where the Prime Minister's name comes up, Dumani turns a blind eye to both the files.

The Group of Advisors of the Freedom Party in the Municipality of Tirana, strongly denounces this affair, the criminal silence of SPAK, held by the throat by Edi Rama, and firmly demands:

1. Immediate cessation of payments for Tirana's ghost incinerator.

2. Criminal investigation into Erion Veliaj and Edi Rama, the actual owners of the incinerator.

3. Public transparency on all payments made, invoices and contracts.

4. Returning every stolen penny to the state budget.

Every day that passes and SPAK does not hold Edi Rama criminally accountable, proves that it is, after all, a blind tool at his service, to hit only political opponents, especially the most determined denouncers of the incinerator affair, as in the case of the President of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, who was the first to dismantle and denounce the incinerator scandal, while he continues to be held in extreme isolation without facts and without criminal evidence, so that the de facto owner of the incinerator, Prime Minister Rama, can continue to steal freely and peacefully./ CNA
