Journalist Artan Hoxha has revealed the amount of money circulated by organized crime in Albania in 2023.

Hoxha said that 12 billion euros have circulated in currency exchange points.

He emphasized that this figure has moved only informally, without calculating the amount passed through banking systems.

"Today, Albanian organized crime and corruption, because they are linked together, are very present, because a good part of the Albanian economy, according to international reports, because they are more reliable, is somewhere around 40%, which is an informal economy. Last year, 12 billion euros were exchanged only at currency exchange points outside the banking system. I do not believe that this 2 billion was exchanged by tourists. Of course, we are dealing with a huge amount for the capacities that Albania has today", declared the journalist./ CNA
