The Supreme Court has upheld the decision to seize the assets of Jamarbë Malltez, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Although Malltez's lawyers have argued that the properties have a legal source, there is no corruption, conflict of interest or element of money laundering, the Supreme Court has not removed the seizure.
Berisha's son-in-law has had 25 assets seized at the request of SPAK, as part of investigations into the privatization of the former "Partizani" complex.
The member of the DP National Council is under house arrest, as he is accused of passive corruption of high state officials and laundering the proceeds of the criminal offense related to the privatization of the former "Partizani" complex.
SPAK claims that Berisha, in his capacity as prime minister, favored the privatization procedures of the former "Partizani" complex and that Malltezi was the direct beneficiary.
SPAK declares that on the land of the former "Partizani" complex, Malltezi, as an investor from the company "Homeplan" sh.pk, has carried out constructions and the benefits are calculated in the amount of 672 billion ALL or 5 million euros./ CNA
