GJKKO returns the file to SPAK/ 2 months time to complete the file to doctor

GJKKO has returned to SPAK the file against doctor Edvin Prifti. Judge Elsa Ulliri has given prosecutor Sotir Kllapi a two-month time limit to complete the file and then resubmit the request for it to go to trial. The decision was taken at this Tuesday's session, which lasted more than two hours.

In February of this year, SPAK closed the investigations and sent the file for trial. Four charges have been brought against doctor Edvin Prifti, "passive corruption" in 7 cases, "theft committed by abuse of office", "concealment of income" and "money laundering".

The priest was placed under the charge of SPAK on February 11, 2021, as part of an investigation launched against 12 other people who were suspected of intending to release some prisoners in Fushë-Kruja prison in exchange for monetary benefits. The priest himself was accused of possibly taking a bribe for the operation of the mother of one of the secretaries of the Kruja court, who were under surveillance at the time.

The prosecution clarifies that at the time of the arrest, from the control of the apartment and the office of the defendant, significant sums of money in cash were found and seized, for which the investigation showed that the defendant could not justify them with legal sources and that they are suspected to be the product of criminal activity./ CNA
