The minister with three portfolios, of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, announced today at the meeting of the Commission for Education and Public Information Media that work is being done on the design of a new national library near Garda in Tirana.

According to the minister, the new national library will be at the service of many ages with many categories.

The minister also emphasized that the old national library should be there for a ceremonial, museum emphasis.

"An important situation for the National Library of Albania which is an institution of extraordinary importance and we have a critical situation regarding the security conditions for the funds and for the entire inventory, the treasure that we have in the basements of this institution where we are we work to have a very creative approach in the economic sense of the word, a new initiative that we have together with the Municipality of Tirana and with the society that owns part of this asset, we have a new agreement that would make us go out with more meters with a solution in terms of the crisis that the Albanian library has gone through in years.

The old library will not be destroyed, it will be the library in the concept we have, there will be hearings, an analysis and serious decision-making. The old national library should be there for a ceremonial, museum emphasis, being in the center of the city near Skënderbej square and thinking about how we will conceive the new Palace of Culture at the service of the national library as well, we want it to be visitable and be a historical object where we will have the historical fund. The new national library will serve many ages with many categories. All this will take place in a new building that will come as a result of a creative economic approach", said minister Blendi Gonxhja./ CNA
