The American investigative journalist, Mattathias Schëarz, stated that according to the American indictment for the "McGonigal" case, it is said that the former FBI official and Prime Minister Edi Rama had a close relationship.

In an exclusive interview for the show "Revieë" in Euroneës Albania, Schëarz said that there is a possibility that McGonigal was involved in the reform of justice in our country.

"It is clear that from the lawsuit, but also from other reports that I have made, it is clear that Edi Rama and Charles McGonigal had a close relationship. It is logical to say that they are friends. It is an initiative by the State Department to reform the justice system in Albania since 2018 and it is possible that Charles McGonigal was involved in this reform.

The suit says that McGonigal met with Edi Rama and he may have begun to open investigations that were linked to a US lobbyist working for a political opponent of Mr. Rama," he emphasized.
