Rivers swell, risk of flooding in Shkodra region

Following today's weather conditions and based on information collected by operational structures on the ground, it is announced that the situation in the territory of Shkodra District is under continuous monitoring.

Local institutions and civil emergency structures are engaged and fully prepared to cope with any possible development of the situation.

In the Municipality of Shkodra, high intensity rainfall has been recorded, while all capacities of the municipality are in full readiness to cope with any possible situation. In the Municipality of Vau i Dejës, there are currently no rainfall reports.

In the Municipality of Malësi e Madhe , heavy rainfall was recorded during the night. In the town of Koplik, there was water on the streets, but the situation appears to be improving, as the water is gradually receding.

In the village of Kamicë, Administrative Unit Qendër, as a result of the inflows from the Dry Stream, damage has been identified on the road that passes over it, causing temporary difficulties in traffic and in the Kamicë-Flakë connection. Local structures are monitoring the situation.

Rainfall continues in the municipalities of Fushë-Arrëz and Puka , in Puka accompanied by strong winds, but so far no problems have been reported.

According to the report of DRUK Lezha, the flows in rivers and streams have increased, but remain below the flood risk quotas. Water levels in Buna, Drin, Kir, Gjadra and the Shtodra Reservoir are normal, while the Velipoja dams are on full alert.

Regarding the road axes, in the Bogë-Theth segment, snow has been recorded in the Qafë Thores area and traffic requires increased caution. On the Hani i Hotit-Dogana Vermosh axis, there has been a fall of inert materials, but the work groups are on the ground and are carrying out the cleaning.

Additionally, several power outages have been reported in administrative units of the municipalities of Shkodër, Vau i Dejës and Fushë-Arrëz, while OSHEE teams are working on the ground to restore supply.
