End of the year holidays/ Police action plan, increased forces and checks

The State Police has organized a plan of measures to guarantee order and security during the end-of-year holidays.

From the morning of December 24, 2024 until January 3, 2025, the police will be on heightened alert.

Additional measures envisage an increased presence of Police services, full control of the territory, control of citizens with criminal records, their vehicles and the premises they frequent, based on informational intelligence, timely provision of information for the prevention of criminal events and for the capture of wanted citizens.

To eliminate long queues at entry/exit, measures have been taken, counters and human resources have been increased at all border crossing points. It is cooperating with counterparts at land points, with the aim of creating legal facilities, avoiding long queues and ensuring smooth movements on both sides of the border. In addition, control has been increased both at the border control points and at the green border, in order to prevent and combat cross-border crimes.

Measures have also been taken in the direction of preventing road accidents, by increasing monitoring on all road axes, with smart cars, automatic radars, smart drones, breathalyzers and mobile patrols with non-uniform vehicles, in order to prevent road accidents.

For the festive Christmas and New Year nights, as well as for the first days of 2025, which coincide with official holidays, there will be increased police presence in promenades, pedestrian areas, places of worship and public squares, in all municipalities of the country, to guarantee the smooth progress of the celebrations by cooperating with the relevant municipal police.

In addition, the Police structures have planned measures to keep security and order under control, in restaurants, bars and shopping centers, which have a high attendance of citizens.

In order to prevent criminal events, services and patrols have been increased in the vicinity of banks, foreign exchange offices, markets and other facilities where monetary and material values ??are administered./ CNA
