"I thank God for sending an enlightened man"/ His Beatitude, John

The Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all of Albania, His Beatitude, Joan, has given an interview to the Greek media outlet "Apogevmatini".

In the interview, His Beatitude spoke about the figure of the late Archbishop, Anastasios, whom he said left an indelible mark on the Albanian Orthodox Church.

Archbishop Joan describes the succession of His Beatitude Anastasius as a heavy burden and thanks God for sending a man like His Beatitude Anastasius to Albania.

“His distinguished personality, with his powerful voice and presence in the Orthodox Church and beyond, left an indelible mark. It is a heavy burden, beyond the strength of my weak shoulders, but what gives me courage is the certainty that God is the one who gives strength to the weary and increases the strength of the weak. I thank God for sending to our country a bright and dedicated man, Archbishop Anastasios, who has been a precious gift to us and to our Church ,” said His Beatitude, Joan.

 

In the interview given, His Beatitude, Joan also spoke about his departure from the Metropolis of Korça, after 27 years of leadership.

Archbishop Joani expressed that the departure was painful because of the precious memories and said that Korça will always be in his prayers.

" Like any separation, leaving after 27 blessed years is painful because of the precious memories in this special city with its devout believers, and Korça will always remain in my heart and prayers ," His Beatitude Joani said in the interview./ CNA
