Legal expert Ervin Karamuço shared today a view related to Article 28 on the case against Judge Irena Gjoka.

Invited to the show 'Noë', Karamuço stated that based on this article, the verification and ascertainment of a judge's data is very important for her continuation in the judicial system.

Karamuço said that only the Special Appeals Chamber and the Independent Qualification Commission are involved in this process, based on the data they have.

"We have a 2016 law, article 28, which states that a judge who is verified and found to be convicted by a final decision of an Albanian or foreign court is no longer a judge. So, the statute of limitations does not apply here at all because it has to do with the declaration. The moment he declares and says that he is not convicted, at that moment it will be verified by the KPK and the KPA, which has passed the vetting process. If they were wrong, I cannot say that they hid it themselves. There was no data at that time. Information was obtained, but not from foreigners. Whether it will be in the system or not, this is decided by the KLP," said Karamuço. /CNA
