Billionaire Elon Musk has fired Twitter's board of directors - cementing control over the social network.
Musk will now be the company's chief executive, after buying the platform last week for $44 billion.
In addition to Twitter, Musk is the CEO of two other companies, Tesla and SpaceX.
He has started to carry out reforms immediately in this social network, which is used by politicians and journalists all over the world.
Among the reforms are changes in the verification of accounts on Twitter, as well as the reduction of jobs.
The American daily, The Washington Post, has reported that a 25 percent reduction in the number of workers is being discussed.
Twitter has not responded to these reports.
Later, Musk himself said that the decision to dissolve the board of directors is a "temporary" step, but without giving much detail.
Currently, Elon Musk is the richest man in the world, with a fortune of more than 269 billion dollars, according to Forbes magazine./REL
