Yet another "tiny dot" fills with houses

Analyst and journalist Mentor Kikia has reacted after a fire broke out on a hill near Llamani Bay in Himara, raising concerns about the way coastal areas are being developed.

In a post on social media, Kikia writes that the area affected by the fire coincides with the area where a construction permit has reportedly been granted for a project with an area of ??approximately 101,200 square meters.

He says there is no evidence to suggest that the fire was intentional, but questions the pattern of construction taking place on the coastline.

“Yet another 'tiny dot' fills with houses!

A hill near Llamani Bay in Himara burned yesterday and last night. The media reports that the fire track matches the track of a construction permit granted by the government to a company, on an area of ??101,200 square meters. I do not want to further the allusion that the fire was intentional, and I do not know what the person who burned it gains after receiving the permit for the development of the area. But I saw the project published in the media. It is this one in the photo.

It clearly states what will be built:

-Hotel

-Cottages

-Apartments

The project has undoubtedly been approved as a tourist attraction. Like dozens of such from Velipoja to Butrint. The project only envisages one hotel, the rest of the construction is villas and apartments for sale.

So, not a "giant and luxurious resort" for VIP tourism. But a village for the rich, who give nothing to tourism.

The government continues to donate coastal territories to build houses and not accommodation capacities for tourism.

"Those rocks are not private property. The coast is the property of all Albanians and should serve everyone. Yes, it can be built there, but not for the luxury of 1% of people, but for the interests of 99% of others," Kikia writes./ CNA
