Today the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited our country, where part of his agenda was the inauguration of the Great Mosque of Tirana.

What stood out was the fact that the leader of the Albanian Muslim Community was not present at this very important event for Muslim believers and that the KMSH was represented by the Mufti of Tirana, Gazment Teqja.

Invited to the show "Opinion", the Mufti of Tirana, Gazment Teqja, said that the Head of the Albanian Muslim Community was absent because he was abroad.

"Today, the head of the Muslim Community has not been to Albania, he has been on a trip to my knowledge. They appointed me as the mufti of Tirana within all the rules because the mufti of Tirana is the one who manages and controls the religious activity and all the cults in the district of Tirana. From the regulation side, it's up to me to manage it, he said.

In a televised appearance, the vice president of the Muslim Community of Albania, Taulant Bica, said that the decision for the KMSH to be represented at the mufti level by Gazment Teqja was made by the Presidency of the institution, based on the problems that have occurred on the Turkish side regarding the delays in the opening of the Namazgja Mosque.

"We received an invitation, and it was taken into consideration and discussed in the leadership of KMSH. In conclusion, we have reached the conclusion that KMSH will be represented by the Mufti of Tirana, who will also be the chairman of the board of this foundation that will manage it.

It is our decision, the invitation came from the Albanian side. It is a practice that has been done in other cases, where the community is represented by members. In this particular case, he was allowed to be represented in the rank of mufti, who is the Chief Mufti of Tirana", said Bica./ CNA
