"Altin Dumani has done a commendable job"/ Ambassador Vos: We will

The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Albania, Reinout Vos, during a visit to the city of Korça, responded to journalists' interest in recent developments in our country and Prime Minister Edi Rama's proposal to reduce the number of MPs, or statements in which he made accusations against the justice system.

"Regarding the first question related to the number of deputies, in the Netherlands we have 150 deputies, in Germany it is a different number, each of the member states has a way of independence in terms of the way of regulating the construction of the parliament and the number of deputies, so this is not an issue for us. Now let's move on to the second issue related to the issues of justice institutions. Recently, the High Judicial Council has issued a statement in which they condemn any kind of pressure or burden that goes towards the justice institutions where any public or private entity is referred to them and we are in full support of this statement," declared Ambassador Reinout Vos.

Ambassador Vos was also asked about the elections expected to be held in SPAK. Vos said that the head of this structure, Altin Dumani, has done a commendable job and that bilateral cooperation will continue.

"You have witnessed that Albania has undertaken a series of very important reforms in the field of the rule of law, starting from vetting, the construction of new institutions, including SPAK and the Special Court. So far, we have seen commendable work by Mr. Dumani. I have full confidence that the leaders who will be elected will continue on the same path because even as a member state, we have had and have very good cooperation with SPAK at the bilateral level of police and judicial cooperation with them, and I believe that we will continue on this path. We have full confidence," said Vos.

Asked whether SPAK leader Altin Dumani could have a second term, the ambassador said that this is up to the Albanian authorities and is their decision-making.

"To my knowledge, according to the legislation in force, it is impossible for Mr. Dumani to have a second renewed mandate, however, this belongs to the Albanian authorities and this is their decision. I am confident that any man or woman who will be elected to head SPAK will continue to have the same good performance that we have seen so far, declared the Dutch ambassador./ CNA
