The Director of the Environment in the Municipality of Tirana, Vjola Sterjo, ended up in handcuffs after being accused of the criminal offense of "Fraud".

"Specialists for the Investigation of Economic-Financial Crime at DVP Korçë, in cooperation with the specialists of the Research Section at DVP Tirana, carried out the execution of the order of the Prosecutor's Office for the detention of citizen VS, 39 years old, resident in Tirana.

Her arrest was made after the Korçë Court of First Instance, with the decision dated 26.12.2022, has assigned the security measure "Prison arrest" for this citizen, for the criminal offense "Fraud", with serious consequences. From the investigations carried out, it results that in the period March-November 2020, through fraud, VS is suspected to have benefited in the city of Korça, a significant amount of money, with the aim of influencing state institutions, so that various citizens benefited from monetary funds from the state.

The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance Korçë, for further action," the police announced.
