Bread and circus with a mountain of problems!/ Veliaj wastes 300 million Lek for the fireworks of the end-of-year holidays

Although the country is facing successive crises, such as the earthquake that left many Albanians homeless, or the Covid-19 pandemic that caused the loss of jobs by many others, the crisis doesn?t seem to have been felt by the Municipality of Tirana.

A few days ago, after the decorations he made for the capital for the end-of-year holidays, the municipality opened a tender for the purchase of fireworks worth approximately 300 million Lek, or 300 thousand dollars. The head of the Youth Forum of the Democratic Party, Belind Këlliçi, also reacted to this news, condemning Veliaj?s ?electrifying show? during a pandemic time.

?Who said that we don?t have a magic wand? Only Tirana is spending 300 million Lek on fireworks! 100 million Lek more than last year! Why? Because it needs decor, facade, joy. Although doctors are dying one after another from lack of protective equipment in hospitals.

Albanians are not receiving any help from the state to cover the costs of anti-Covid treatment. What about businesses that closed because they went bankrupt, did anyone give money to protect jobs? How many residents affected by the earthquake are only in Tirana, who still pay rent.

How many palaces need to be demolished, but are still standing. But who cares about these problems? The comrades of the Executive Committee of Tirana, with the chief signatory Erion Veliaj, will give us an ?electrifying show? to forget every problem. Those who has problems should wait./CNA.al
