A political message from the meeting Yuri Kim-Lulzim Basha

We discussed the essential role of the opposition in democracy, the views of the opposition on key issues, and the preparations for the April 25 elections. All parties must provide clean candidates in criminal terms. The United States will do its part to support free and fair elections in Albania?.

These words clearly indicate why that meeting took place. But apparently after Venice gave him the right slap, it already seems that it is the turn of the American Embassy to place Luli Basha with shoulder behind the wall, sending a clear political message.

The role of the opposition is in the elections, and the elections must be free. The opposition must bear its responsibility, it cannot leave the game, it cannot leave the playing field empty, as it left the parliament, causing negative consequences for the Justice Reform and the Constitutional Reform, including the Electoral Reform which was supported by Luli Basha. He boycotted the local elections last year, and the consequences are here. Lulzim Basha knows very well all these things. But the American ambassador, Yuri Kim, said publicly yesterday who is the role of the opposition and what Basha should do.

He cannot longer run away from the race, he cannot longer run away from the game, he cannot run away from confrontation, just to justify his successive losses. Knowing that he is lost in the coming election, and seeing that his ally, the SMI, is losing ground every day, not being able to build a new team, and seeing the fragmentation of the DP into several other smaller parties, Lulzim Basha is the clearest than all the others that he is heading towards defeat.

Edi Rama is probably in a weaker position than ever before. But he is facing Lulzim Basha, who guarantees him the power he has. Luli Basha doesn?t seem to be an alternative. Although people may not want to vote for Edi Rama, on the other hand they do not want to vote for Lulzim Basha as an alternative solution, which means that there will be a big election boycott, or small parties may get a certain electoral weight. Knowing all these factors, reading the polls, Luli Basha is trying again to avoid the electoral race, as he has done before, trying to take power at the table, but apparently this time the messages are clear. This is what the US ambassador said publicly last night.

Now the Americans are not doing anything else, except that they are taking the Little Luli by the hand and leading it to the elections. The latter will start declaring victory in the following days, until he loses them. Then he will start crying, justifying the loss, starting the protests, just like in the years 2017 and 2019 to hold the post of DP leader.
