How is artificial intelligence changing the job market?

The highest salaries in Kosovo are in the information technology sector. But many tasks in this sector can now be performed by artificial intelligence (AI). The International Labor Organization warns that no profession is completely safe, but experts in the field see it as more of a help than a danger.

For more than a decade, Lend Kelmendi has entered the world of information and communication technology.

From the time he began his career to now holding the position of engineering director at Kutia, a lot has changed.

"It was one of the versions of ChatGPT that, when it came out, you could say that it helped you at work," Kelmendi tells Radio Free Europe.

The first artificial intelligence programs weren't perfect, Kelmendi says. But over time, they have become an increasingly important part of his and his colleagues' work.

For Albi Hoti, a programmer, artificial intelligence (AI) has been part of his work since the beginning of his career, about two and a half years ago.

"We know that AI learns, it also learns from us. The more we use it, the more it learns from its users. So it's a big help," says Hoti.

What do they use it for? To solve various problems in their work, to perform tasks that don't require much creativity...

But a report published this week by the International Labor Organization (ILO) warns that more and more tasks in this sector - and beyond - could be performed by artificial intelligence.

What does this mean? That some professions may become unnecessary in the future./ REL
