Apple introduces iPhone 16e/ New product with artificial intelligence

Apple has introduced a new iPhone that brings artificial intelligence (AI) features at a lower cost than its flagship phones. The iPhone 16e has the same processor as the larger iPhone 16, Apple said, with similar memory options, though a lower specification elsewhere, including fewer cameras.

Apple has been working to find a new product that excites consumers.

The new phone, which ditches the SE naming convention for Apple's budget series, will go up against popular Android smartphones at a time when rivals Samsung and China's Huawei are adding AI tools to their devices.

The 16e will cost $599, a $170 increase from the previous entry-level phone, the SE, though its features are closer to Apple's flagship models and include a powerful chip to run Apple Intelligence, a feature set with access to ChatGPT.

Aside from the lack of a wide-angle camera lens, a missing power button, and a slightly different screen, the 16e looks a lot like its more expensive siblings. /CNA
