Instagram transformation postponed

Officials of the social network, Instagram, have said that they will temporarily postpone updating the application with the new features, after dissatisfaction expressed by influential people.

As part of the transformation, the increase in video content and their more frequent recommendation was foreseen.

However, users have said that doing so blocks their friends' content.

Earlier this week, Instagram boss Asam Mosseri posted several videos on Twitter announcing the changes, though he said he wanted to "continue support for photos."

But on Thursday, a spokesperson for Meta, the parent company of Instagram, said that the decision was made to postpone the updates for some time, so that the appropriate decisions are made.

"Based on our findings and community feedback, we will pause full testing on Instagram in order to explore other options. We will temporarily reduce the number of recommendations you see on your content," a Meta official told The Hollywood Reporter.

"While we know that Instagram needs to evolve in step with world changes, we need time to do this the best way."

After Mosser's posts on Twitter, some people have started an online petition calling against the changes on this platform./REL
