Russia fines Google with 370 million dollars

The company Google was fined 370 million dollars (21.1 billion rubles) this Monday by a court in Moscow.

According to the court, Googe has not removed content that Moscow considers illegal and false related to the war in Ukraine, writes Reuters.

Moscow has long opposed the distribution of content from foreign technology platforms that violates its restrictions.

But the dispute has erupted into an all-out battle since Moscow assembled its armed forces before sending them into Ukraine in late February.

Communications regulator Roskomnadzor said in June that video publishing platform YouTube, which is owned by Google, was deliberately spreading false information about the conflict in Ukraine.

Google, which may appeal the decision, did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment./euronews
