Ermir Lenjani has withdrawn from the Albanian national football team. This was announced by the defender himself through a post on his profile.

Lenjani was part of Albania from 2013, while with the red and black shirt he has played 45 games and scored five goals. The biggest achievement for him was undoubtedly the participation in Euro 2016.

At the age of 35, the defender has decided to retire from the National Team. The last time Lenjani gathered in Albania was in 2023.

I want to inform you that I have decided to retire from the Albanian National Team. Not an easy decision, but I believe it is the right moment. It has always been a great honor and responsibility for me to wear the jersey of my nation.

I am very proud that my name is part of the history of Albanian football and that my childhood dream came true in 2016, where we made the red and black nation proud with the historic representation for the first time in a European Championship.

I have many beautiful moments with the red and black jersey, from the debut in the match against Belarus, to the first goal in "Elbasan Arena" against Denmark, the historic victory in "France 2016" against Romania and my last collection in March 2023 with the National Team, where the road to qualifying for "Euro 2024" began.

I am grateful to God, my family and every person who has stood by me at every moment. Every beginning has an end and my journey would not be possible without coaches Gianni De Biasi, Christian Panucci, Edoardo Reja and Sylvio Mendes Campos Júnior, whom I want to thank from the bottom of my heart for the trust given.

Also, I want to thank the technical staff of the National Team, the Albanian Football Federation, President Armand Duka and all my teammates who have supported me in the most special journey of my life.

In the end, my biggest thanks goes to the fans of the Albanian National Team. We have felt at home in every stadium in Albania and Europe, thanks to you, the best fans in the world. From now on I am like all of you, always by the side of the Albanian National Team and the red and black boys.
