Dani Alves' brother, Ney Alves, has denied reports that the former Brazilian defender killed himself in prison.

Alves is convicted after being accused of rape and the news that he killed himself made a big splash.

The unconfirmed news was spread by a Brazilian journalist, who later apologized insisting there had been a name mistake.

But the brother of the ex-football player has described as cruel what was happening to Dani Alves, who last month was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for raping a young woman in a disco in Barcelona.

“How much cruelty can human beings have? He was convicted of the words of a woman who entered the men's bathroom to do something that only he and she knows what. He was convicted. Isn't that enough?", he initially said in a video shared on Instagram.

"Not enough. Now the crazy thing is they want him dead. How can you be so cruel? My father is over 70 years old. My mother is over 60. Don't they have families? These sites that keep spreading this stuff. May God have mercy on you", were his words for his brother, to whom he wished health and longevity in another post.
