Bayern Munich "shocked", starter ends season

Bayern Munich have suffered a major blow ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Inter Milan (April 8 and 16). The German champions will have to face this huge challenge without one of their most important players, Alphonso Davies, who suffered a serious knee ligament injury during the match between Canada and the USA.

The left-back, who had just renewed his contract with Bayern, has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, an injury that is expected to keep him out for at least six months. This means his season is over.

For coach Vincent Kompany, this is a major problem, as Davies has been a key player in his plans. Furthermore, his absence forces Bayern to look for other alternatives at left-back, with Raphaël Guerreiro expected to take over that role.
