Suarez accused FIFA of not allowing him to see his children

Luis Suarez directed a swipe at FIFA as he exits what is sure to be his last World Cup. The Uruguay forward was furious with the way his side's matches were officiated after they were knocked out of the tournament on Friday.

Portugal's second goal against them last week came with a handball penalty that many claim should not have been awarded. And as they chased extra goals in their 2-0 win over Ghana on Friday, they were denied two penalties by German referee Daniel Siebert, officiating only his second World Cup match.

Suarez also said he was banned from seeing his children at the end. The former Liverpool striker said: "It seems that Uruguay should have more power, FIFA is always against Uruguay."

"After the match I wanted to see my children and the FIFA people said, 'No' - yet a player from France was with his children on the dock."

"The FIFA people and the Referee Committee need to explain what they are basing the apparent penalty decisions they are making. On Friday, they didn't give us two", he continued.

Suarez admitted he was sad to be leaving the race and couldn't have given his son a happier memory.

He added: “I was lucky enough to play in my fourth World Cup and I was thinking about my four-year-old son, who goes away looking sad. The situation hurts because we left the path we didn't want".
