The Durrës Regional Football Association held the proceedings of the General Electoral Assembly this Friday, attended by 27 members of the association, represented by 36 delegates.

This Assembly was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, but due to the floods that affected the city of Durrës, the Assembly was postponed to today.

At the Assembly held in Durrës, the activity report for 2025 was reviewed, the achievements and problems of the previous year were recognized, and the financial statements and budget for 2026 were approved.

One of the most important items on the agenda was the election of the Chairman of the SHRF Durrës for the next 4-year term. The body responsible for organizing the election process, which is the Verification Commission, stated that only one candidacy for Chairman was submitted, specifically the request for re-nomination by Mr. Mikel Furxhi, proposed by 26 members of the association.

The General Electoral Assembly of the Durrës Regional Football Association, with complete unanimity, decided to elect Mr. Mikel Furxhi as President of the Durrës Regional Football Association with a 4 (four) year mandate.

In his speech after his re-election, the Chairman of SHRF Durrës, Mike Furxhi, thanked everyone for their trust and support, emphasizing that he will continue to work for the development of football in this city.

“I would like, first of all, to express my most sincere thanks and deep gratitude for the trust you have placed in me today, by re-electing me as President of the Durrës Regional Football Association for another four-year term.

This re-election represents a great honor for me, but above all an increased responsibility. It is a moral and institutional obligation to continue working with the same seriousness, correctness and dedication, always having at the center the interests of the clubs, athletes, coaches, referees and the entire football community of Durrës.

During the past mandate, we have overcome challenges that are not easy, but we have proven that with cooperation, dialogue and goodwill we can build stronger and more functional structures. We have laid important foundations for the organization of competitions, for the support of clubs and for the creation of a fairer and more transparent environment for the development of regional football. The new mandate that begins today will be a continuation of this work, but also a further step forward. Our priorities will remain clear: strengthening the Association as an institution, increasing cooperation with the Albanian Football Federation, concrete support for clubs and academies, as well as creating the best possible conditions for the development of youth football, which constitutes the foundation of the future of our sport”, – said Mikel Furxhi in his speech.

In addition to the president, the delegates who will represent SHRFD at the General Electoral Assembly of the Albanian Football Association were also elected, which are the president of SHRFD, Mikel Furxhi, Agron Këcova and Rivelino Feimi.

Also on the agenda were proposals for candidates for President of the Albanian Football Association and for members of the Executive Committee. The members of the association proposed Mr. Armand Duka as a candidate for the position of President of the Albanian Football Association, who was voted for by all 36 members of the association during the assembly proceedings.

Meanwhile, as a candidate for member of the Executive Committee of the Albanian Football Federation, the members of SHRF Durrës voted for Mr. Edmond Hasanbelli, the former president of the Teuta team.
